What is a domain name?
The internet identifies web sites via IP addresses. Each IP address is comprised of a series of numbers. It is difficult for us to recall strings of numbers, so we use names. Each Website name is associated with an IP address. In order for a specific name to be connected to an IP address, that name needs to be registered. There are multiple registrars, but all of them are connected to a central data base that checks that your name is unique.
Usually domain name registration lasts for one year. At that time it needs to be renewed.
What is a web host?
A business that provides storage space and access for websites. Many of the hosts offer different packages. For our purposes we highly recommend Siteground. Their service and quality are unsurpassed.
What is site content?
Site content is anything that is loaded onto the site and may include text, video, podcasts or images (photos).Our basic service offers writing the text content, and loading free images obtained via the internet. You are also welcome to provide your own text and images.
What is the GDPR?
GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation and is a European law demanding that organizations that collect data over the internet be transparent about how the data will be used.
